Our City
The city was incorporated in 1989 in the county of Orange. At the center of the seal is an illustration of the iconic figure of Richard Henry Dana Jr., the city’s namesake, standing on a rocky outcrop with one foot raised, looking out over the sea. This image pays homage to Dana’s role as a seaman and his historical connection to the area, famously chronicled in his book “Two Years Before the Mast.”
The DPHS works with other non-profits and the city of Dana Point. Their collective efforts ensure the preservation and celebration of the city’s unique sense of place.
