October 25 Statue Unveiling Honors Steve and Barrie Boehne

On Wednesday, October 25, at 3 p.m., the City of Dana honored local tandem surfing champions Steve and Barrie Boehne with the unveiling of a commemorative statue at Waterman’s Plaza.

Steve and Barrie won multiple ASP World Tandem Championships and were featured on ABC Wide World of Sports and LIFE Magazine.  They married in 1971 and together opened their new board shaping shop, Infinity Surf Shop, in an old gas station on 5th and PCH in Huntington Beach.  They moved the shop to Dana Point to raise their children, Dave and Dan.

The statue of the duo is crafted by artist Bill Limebrook, who has been involved in the design of each of the bronze statues at Waterman’s Plaza.
