The Maritime Festival has been a beloved community event for the past 40 years, and we are thrilled to continue celebrating Dana Point’s rich maritime history.

Please join us in supporting the Ocean Institute’s Maritime Festival by visiting us at this fun-filled weekend event with educational maritime and ocean science activities, visiting tall ships, beer gardens, mermaids, pirates, live music, sailor camp, food trucks, and more! Saturday Sept 14th & Sunday Sept 15th, 2024.

The Dana Point Historical Society will have a vendor booth with merchandise for sale. Don’t miss Bob Minty’s Whaling and Maritime History Artifact Exhibit at the Ocean Institute. You will find Bob’s 1929 Woody Oldsmobile outside the OI and exhibit in the Lurena G. Chambers Gift Shop.

Event Recap

Thank you volunteers for all the time you spent making this a successful event. The museum booth had visitors and answered community questions.

Keith Johannes wore the new Hawaiian OC Shirt that is available in person at the Museum Store. It will be available for purchase the Redo Market on September 22, 2024.

Guests were able to purchase tiles that will be installed on the Baby Beach wall.

  2. While I generally agree with your stance, I wonder if you’ve considered the implications for communities with limited resources. Your solutions seem ideal for well-funded environments but might need adaptation in other contexts. It would be interesting to explore how these ideas could be made more accessible.
