Home Tour Set for October 6, 2013

Denise and Robert Morrison’s (pictured in color photo) request for Historic Resource Designation and participation in the Mills Act for their Sidney H. Woodruff historic home was approved by the DP Planning Commission on January 14, 2013.  Their Historic Preservation Agreement (Mills Act) was approved by the DP City Council on February 19, 2013.  May is Preservation Month and the Morrison home is the most recent addition to our city’s Historic Register. The 1928 home will be featured on our Sunday, October 6th Annual Home Tour along with several other Woodruff houses. Denise Morrison is an interior designer who is intent on restoring the property as an artform, keeping the essential original features that remain from S.H. Woodruff’s era in Dana Point when his wife and step-daughter lived there with him.  Our congratulations and thanks go to the Morrisons for preserving the historical culture of Santa Clara Avenue and the City of Dana Point. Volunteers for advertising, boutique sales, catering, docent work, logistics planning, registration, recruiting sponsors, etc., are needed. But many hands make light work and no contribution of time is too small!  Interested members should contact Mary Crowl by email at mccrowl33@yahoo.com or by calling 949-481-4656. The next meeting of the Home Tour Committee is scheduled for May 20 at 7 p.m. at the museum.  This event is our largest annual fundraising event and we hope we can count on your help make it a success!
