FAMILY HISTORY COMES ALIVE IN TILE

Co-starring Gene Burrus and Lubica Selica

March 24, 7:00 p.m. Dana Hills Tennis Center

Golden Lantern near Del Avion, Dana Point

Little did Gene Burrus realize that the casual family photograph his father took one day in 1933 would be preserved in colorful tile on Dana Point’s new Coast Highway pedes- trian bridge. Gene will recount the details of that early pleasure outing and how he later decided to make this city his home. A retired professional radio announcer, he is now best known as the voice of Dana Point Youth Baseball games.

Lubica Selica, the versatile Capistrano Beach artist who recreated the Burrus family tile portrait (see photo below) on the bridge, will partner with him to “show and tell” about her dramatic assignment. She is also the creator of the colorful tall ship that appears beside the Burrus family portrait — both hand-set in tile.

Come at 6:30 for a social half- hour with our friendly members as this appealing program is being set up. Bring your family and friends to share a memorable presentation.
