34171 Ruby Lantern
Address: 34171 Ruby Lantern
Built: 1928, Woodruff
The Historic Architectural Resources Inventory prespared for the City of Dana Point describes this two-story frame, stuccoed house as one of the few built in the Provincial Revival style rather than the more frequently chosen Spanish Colonial Revival style of the Woodruff development. The house has a steeply pitched gable roof, with the longer of the two roof slopes flared at the eave. The street facing gable has three windows and a wing wall with a charming arched opening to the door way on the right side. The right facade has a distinctive tall brick chimney and two additional doors on the second floor that are accessed by an exterior stair. While the original provincial style windows appear to have been replaced, the roof line, interesting attic vent and wood shutters are characteristic of the style.

The Dana Point Historical Society advocates to formally acknowledge the collection of historic buildings that contribute to the eclectic visual character of the community and serve as reminders of Dana Point’s rich and colorful past, for the enrichment of current and future generations. Dana Point’s historic buildings give a sense continuity and security to the citizens of Dana Point.
