2010 Founders Day for Lynn Muir

Honoree Lynn Muir receiving his Founders Day Plaque from Historical Society President, Carlos N. Olvera
Our Founders Day program brought an unusually large attendance with the recognition of long time resident Lynn J. Muir. His biography was presented by his son Gerald, with other family and friends explaining his influence or impact in their lives.
The Scholarship BBQ is coming up—see insert for making reservations. We hope to have a larger than normal turnout. Our annual presentation of two $1,000 scholarships continues this year and this BBQ will fund next year’s program.
We all hope you enjoyed the distribution of the walking tour map. Maybe it would be neat for our membership to take a picture of you with the Brochure in hand at one of our tour locations.
The October Home Tour is progressing as we are getting homes to be shown.
We have just completed a major placement of our pictures and posters at the Dana Marina Inn Harbor. These twelve mountings are receiving good comments for their interesting pictorial of Dana Point from the 1930s to the 1960s. There was a nice press release in the May 28 issue of the Dana Point Times about this display.
The Dana Point Historical Society advocates to formally acknowledge the collection of historic buildings that contribute to the eclectic visual character of the community and serve as reminders of Dana Point’s rich and colorful past, for the enrichment of current and future generations. Dana Point’s historic buildings give a sense continuity and security to the citizens of Dana Point.
